    The Supreme Novices Hurdle(Grade 1)

The roar as the tapes go up for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle on Tuesday at the Cheltenham Festival is one of the must feel moments in sport. A race won six times in the last ten years by Willie Mullins. The maestro from Closutton holds a strong hand again this time around with current favourite, Facile Vega, looking like the pick of them.

Arkle Challenge Trophy Steeple Chase(Grade 1)

Mullins has also been responsible for four of the last eight winners of the Arkle, although his last success in the race came in 2019. Possible contenders from that yard are Appreciate It, Dysart Dynamo and El Fabiolo although it is Nicky Henderson, winner of the 2021 race with Shishkin, who trains the current short priced favourite in Jonbon.

    The Champion Hurdle (Grade 1)

    The Champion Hurdle
has been another happy hunting ground for Henderson who boasts a leading eight wins in the race with five of those shared between two horses, See You Then (three) and Buveur d’Air (two). He will be hoping that his superstar six-year-old Constitution Hill can extend that impresse sequence in the race and, barring any mishaps before or during the race, it’s difficult to see him not doing so.

    Mares Hurdle(Grade 1)

    The Mares’ Hurdle
is a race entering it’s 16th year and leading trainer Willie Mullins has won taken an mightily impressive nine of them, mainly thanks to the legend that is Quevega who strung and unlikely to be beaten six wins on the spin between 2009 and 2014. As ever, he’s well represented with Brandy Love and Echoes In Rain but Nicky Henderson perhaps holds a stronger hand with current favourite Marie’s Rock and most likely the 2020 Champion Hurdle winner, Epatante.
